It’s very, very, very difficult to support yourself by being a film critic, unless you’re working for a major publication or website. No one should ever enter this profession expecting to be able to live off the salary. Some people have managed to do it, but the percentage is incredibly small. Most online critics have to work a second job to pay the bills, especially if, like me, they have a family to feed. While I do earn income from my film writing, three people could never live off it.
I think you have to do a job like this because you love it and can’t imagine *not* doing it.
